Police Department - Traffic Unit

The mission of the Yorkville Police Traffic Unit is to promote traffic safety through education and enforcement. The Traffic Unit works with Citizens and other branches of City and State Government to identify problematic areas that create traffic hazards. While investigating these areas the Traffic Unit may resort to decreasing the hazard by Public Education and strict enforcement.

Commercial Truck Traffic is also monitored for weight restrictions and proper licensing. Overweight Trucks are a danger on the highway, and also destroy our streets. Specially Trained Officers look for these vehicles and if they appear to be in violation, will stop them and weigh them utilizing portable truck scales which the department possesses.

The Traffic Unit also includes Certified Child Safety Seat Technicians who are available, by appointment, to check your child safety seat at the Yorkville Police Department. The Yorkville Police department Traffic Unit also conducts child safety seat checks at various times during the year which anyone may attend.
