Below is a list of major construction projects that will be happening in Yorkville this year. View individual project pages to find out the project scope and current updates.

2016 Road to Better Roads


Update: The project is substantially complete.
This project will consist of the milling and resurfacing of the pavement along several streets within the City as noted in the attached map. In addition, the City will be performing crack sealing in various locations to prolong the life of the pavement. The project is scheduled to begin in early May and should be completed by mid-August. Impacts to traffic are expected to be minimal, however daytime lane and roadway closures should be expected. 

2016 Sanitary Sewer Lining


Update: The project is schedule to begin in October.
This project will involve the installation of cured-in-place pipeliner in existing sanitary sewer in several locations within the City as noted in the attached maps. This project may begin as early as June and should be completed by November. Impacts to traffic are expected to be minimal; however daytime lane and roadway closures should be expected.

Blackberry Woods - Completion of Improvements


Update: The project is substantially complete.
This project consists of landscaping, sidewalk and street light installation and general underground utility punchlist completion. This project is anticipated to be underway in May and should be completed by the end of June. Impacts to traffic are expected to be minimal; however daytime lane and roadway closures should be expected.

Church Street Water Main Improvements


Update: The project is substantially complete. 
This project will involve the replacement of 1,500 feet of 8 inch water main along Church Street from River Road to Somonauk Street. The project is anticipated to be underway in May and should be completed by the end of June. Impacts to traffic are expected to be minimal; however daytime lane and roadway closures should be expected.

Countryside Water Main and Road Improvements


This project will involve the replace of over 15,000 feet of 8 and 12 inch water main and the resurfacing of the streets within the Countryside subdivision as shown on the attached map. The project is expected to start in mid-April and continue through November of this year. It is anticipated that all of the water main work and the installation of the binder course pavement will be completed this year. The project will resume in spring of 2017 and will wrap up by summer of 2017. Impacts to traffic are expected to be minimal; however daytime lane and roadway closures should be expected. 

Grande Reserve - Park A


Update: The project is substantially complete.
 This project consists of the final grading and seeding of the park site in the Grande Reserve development .

​Kennedy Road Multi-Use Path


This project consists of the construction of a 2.72 multi-use path along Kennedy approximately in-between 47 and Bailey Road as shown in the attached map. Construction is expected to start spring 2017.

Route 34 Improvements


This IDOT project consists of the reconstruction of US Route 34 from Route 47 to Orchard Road in Oswego. The project began in January 2016 and is anticipated to be complete by December 2018. Significant traffic delays are expected.

Route 47 Street Lighting


Update: It is anticipated the poles will be installed in late August/September.
This project utilizes federal funds and will consist of the installation of decorative street lights along Route 47 from Route 126 to Somonauk Street. The project is schedule to begin in July and should be completed by the end of September. Impacts to traffic are expected to be minimal; however daytime lane and roadway closures should be expected.
