About the Festival

The 2017 Hometown Days Festival is a family oriented event that provides entertainment the entire family can enjoy!  We are excited to bring back again this year the past favorites such as the Pride and Joy Car Show, the Baby Contest, carnival, and live musical performances. We are currently working on the 2016 band schedule so please check back at a later date for more details. We are also excited to announce the return of a 2016 crowd favorite – The Ultimate Air Dogs Show! Please visit the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Facebook Page for up to date festival information.

New Celebrate Seniors with Big Band and BBQ

Celebrate seniors at Beecher Park while enjoying 5-B's BBQ Pork and Chicken for $13 per dinner starting at 5:30pm. All proceeds go to support programs and services provided by Senior Services Associates. For more information please call Senior Services at
630-553-5777. Meal tickets are on sale at the Beecher Community Center (908 Game Farm Rd, Yorkville) or at the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department (201 W Hydraulic Ave, Yorkville).


Carnival


The 2017 carnival is provided by DRS Skinner's Amusements. For more information on DRS Skinners' Amusements please visit their website. Wristbands (unlimited rides for $20 per person) will be available on Saturday, September 2 from 1pm-5pm and on Sunday, September 3 from 1pm-5pm.


Advanced Disposal Family Area

The family area will feature bounce houses, Touch-A-Truck and Jacob's Well free comfort station. Come cool off with Jacob's Well or bring your kids for a fun and free time in the bounce houses. The Rush-Copley family area will be open from noon-6pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Live Performances


The Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department welcomes local dance and theater companies to perform for short periods during the Yorkville Hometown Days Festival. If your organization or company would like to perform at the 25th Annual Hometown Days Festival please contact the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department at 630-553-4357.


Ultimate Air Dogs Competition

 
Enjoy a spectacular show of courage and athletics, from dogs and their owners as they jump off a dock after a frisbee into a pool of water. Come as a spectator or compete with your own dog! Competitor registration is taken online at the Ultimate Air Dogs Website or onsite during the festival. All dogs are welcome; they only have to know how to swim. Baby Contest


Join the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department for the cutest, crowd favorite. The baby contest is an annual tradition that brings in the youngest of crowds. This year's baby contest will be held on Friday, September 1st at 5:30pm. Registration will begin at 5:15. Participants may register for up to two categories and will be divided up by gender. There will be two age divisions: 0-9 months and 10-18 months. For a full list of categories please download the Baby Contest Flier

Baggapalooza


The Hometown Days Bags Tournament is a growing tradition that is always a big hit. The tournament features plenty of cash prizes. This year's Baggapalooza Tournament will be held on Saturday, September 2nd starting at 1pm. Cash prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places. The tournament costs $25 per person and $50 per team. For more information please download the event flier


Black Dog Distillery Tasting

Black Dog Distillery will be hosting a tasting during the Yorkville Hometown Days Festival on Saturday, September 2! The tasting will be held from 2pm-5pm in the beer tent. For $10/person, participants will enjoy a total of three 1/4 oz tastes of Black Dog rum and vodka as well as two craft cocktails while learning about the history of liquor production at Black Dog Distillery. Preregistration is encouraged, registration will be taken the day of the event. 


Craft Beer Tasting

This year's Craft Beer Tasting will be held on Sunday, September 3rd from 1pm-5pm under the beer tent. Listen to some great music as you sip on some great beer during this year's craft beer tasting. The Hometown Days Craft Beer Tasting costs $15 per person or $25 per couple and includes a souvenir tasting glass, 6 three ounce tastes and 1 fourteen ounce glass of your choice. You do not need to register for this tasting. Simply stop by the beer tent between 1pm-5pm and enjoy some great craft beer from local breweries.

Book It! 5K Run

Join the Yorkville Public Library for a 5k fun run during the Yorkville Hometown Days Festival. The race will start at 8 AM in the parking lot of the Yorkville Public Library (902 Game Farm Rd, Yorkville). The race will then proceed north to Conover subdivision, then south to town square and then back to library to finish All proceeds benefit the Yorkville Public Library. Registration is available online.


Dempsey Dodge Chrysler Jeep Pride and Joy Car Show


The Pride and Joy Car Show brings in over 100 cars annually. The show is hosted by a live DJ and features classic cars of a variety of makes and models. Each car entered in the show is put into a specific category based on make, model, the year it was manufactured, and if it has had any alterations.

The Parks and Recreation Department is always looking for volunteers to help with this massive event. Volunteering is a great way to build a sense of community and helping your local Parks and Recreation Department. Vendors and Exhibitors


The 25th annual Hometown Days Committee is currently accepting application for vendors and exhibitors for the 2017 festival. If you are interested in being a vendor or exhibitor please download and complete the vendor or exhibitor application (see link below). Completed applications with payment can be returned to the Yorkville Parks and Recreation Department (201 W Hydraulic Ave, Yorkville, Illinois, 60560) or emailed to Shay at sremus@yorkville.il.us. Please note that submitting an application does not guarantee entrance into the festival. Once application are received, they will be reviewed by the Hometown Days Committee. Vendors will receive email correspondence confirming or denying their acceptance to the festival once a decision is made.
