Public Access TV

Purpose
Fox Valley Cable Channel 10 is a public and government access channel serving the communities of Yorkville, North Aurora, Plano and Sandwich.

Televised City Council Meetings
The United City of Yorkville conducts regular City Council meetings on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday evenings of the month beginning at 7 p.m. in City Hall. The United City of Yorkville tapes the City Council meetings and airs them on Channel 10. Yorkville residents can view the meetings beginning on Thursday evening, and on Saturday and Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. on Channel 10.

Production Facilities
With production facilities located at Waubonsee Community College, Fox Valley TV (FVTV) provides residents with the opportunity to learn to produce television programs to air in their own communities. The city's Community Relations Department oversees the taping and airing of City Council meetings and would like to expand the programming in the future to include regular city updates and events.

Programming Volunteers Wanted
We are currently looking for individuals who are interested in volunteering their time to produce programming that would benefit Yorkville residents. Public Access training is provided through the Community Education Department of Waubonsee Community College. In 4 hands-on sessions, access users learn the basics of:
  • Audio
  • Camera work
  • Editing
  • Lighting
  • Studio production
TV Production Volunteers Wanted
The United City of Yorkville is currently seeking residents who are interested in learning TV production for future Channel 10 programming and the taping of City Council meetings. The City will pay the class fee for any resident who takes the class in exchange for volunteering their time for future programming endeavors.
